We understood that many institutes could not send individuals to Dundee for training. For some institutes, training a larger number of individuals with specific skills and knowledge is more beneficial.
The DDU is still looking for potential partners to develop collaborations with. If you work in drug discovery in a low-middle income country and may be interested in a visit to include training, please get in touch with the training manager, Suze Farrell.
We worked with a number of institutes in Ghana to provide support with training both in Dundee, and Ghana. We have had a number of trainees from Ghana training in Dundee.
We have delivered training courses to research and technical staff in Ghana, including Drug Discovery Mission and An Introduction to HPLC and Mass Spectrometry.

We had links with a number of institutes in Malawi, with a focus on Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (formerly College of Medicine) in Blantyre.
We first visited College of Medicine in 2018 to deliver two weeks of teaching to researchers and students from a number of institutes. We focused on biology, chemistry and HPLC techniques. Find out more here.
Two individuals who had attended that course have since been successful in a training placement in Dundee. Happy Nyirongo spend 6 months with us, and helped develop a short training programme for students in Malawi. He delivered this for the first time, with the support of WCAIR staff on our training visit in 2019.
Andrew Mtewa spent 9 months with us in Dundee learning medicinal chemistry techniques and completing further research for his PhD.
