Following on from some excellent summer events in Stobswell, we’ll be running even more in-person events into the autumn, in a welcome return. Follow the links to find out more about each event.
For the very first time, the Centre is taking part in Doors Open Day. This is a nationwide event that gives people special access to places they might not normally get to visit. We’ll be inviting people onto campus to visit our WeeCAIR Medicinal Garden, where you’ll be able to meet the scientists behind our plants and medicines, and discover why we chose what we did. We’ll also be opening up LifeSpace Gallery for the first time post-Covid, with some really exciting new work from artist Hamer Dodds. While not directly linked to WCAIR, Hamer’s research extends between the School of Life Sciences, DJCAD, and the Dundee Botanic Garden. We’re excited to see what he has produced – he really is quite a character! We’ll be running on Sunday 25 September from 11-3pm, and it’s free to attend.
We’re also taking part in the University’s Festival of the Future. This is one of our key cultural events each year, and we’re delighted to be a part of it. We’ll be running two workshops. Our first one is on Wednesday 12 October from 1-2pm at the Overgate. It focuses on the design – make – test cycle of drug discovery. The second, at the Botanics on Saturday 15 October from 10-12, will be all about making science murals. We’re delighted that artist Lewi Quinn will be returning to work with us again, fresh from his stunning work on our mural in Stobswell.
Hopefully we’ll see lots of you at our in-person events through the autumn!
