In October 2018, the team delivered training at the College of Medicine in Blantyre, Malawi. They worked for two weeks delivering hands-on practical training. Trainees came from different institutes to learn skills such as cell culture, HPLC, TLC and NMR.
This work leads on from a Scottish Government and University of Strathclyde project, IMMPAQKT. One of their outcomes was to train staff in techniques used for analysis in traditional herbal medicines. The techniques trainees learned about will help further their projects on traditional medicines.
Further visits will provide more training to support drug discovery science at a number of institutes in Malawi.
