Marina Themoteo Varela

Hi! I am a Pharmacist from São Paulo, Brazil, graduated in 2016 in the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). In 2018 I got my Master’s degree in Science from the same University working with the synthesis and design of novel antitrypanosoma compounds. Currently (2020) I am developing my PhD project on the same line of work, focusing on the medicinal chemistry aspect of drug discovery. I learnt about the WCAIR group during a conference in Brazil (2018) as well as from a previous trainee (Daiane Ferreira). Considering the link between the diseases of interest for the centre and my project, I applied for training in both medicinal chemistry and DMPK, in hopes to improve my knowledge and bring back to Brazil the capability to implement new techniques and to improve the quality of our science.
