I am Fritz Egbert Plange Jnr, a PhD candidate in the Chemistry Department of the University of Ghana, Legon. I had my MPhil in the same university where I worked on the hit validation of a chemical entity by designing and synthesises of small molecules for malaria. My current research is based on a hit to lead campaign of chemical motifs obtained through phenotypic screens of some chemical libraries for malaria drug discovery.
I was introduced to WCAIR by my supervisor, Prof. Richard K. Amewu, to undertake a 9-month long training in medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis under the supervision of Cedric and Gary. The exposure to this august environment was a surreal experience for me. The facilities, the equipment and the calibre of research done here is awe-inspiring and I am blessed to learn and imbibe the essence that makes this place great. My training in WCAIR was augmented by participating in several seminars, workshops, symposiums, and project meetings on top of the hit-lead med chem project we started here in the hopes to continue, back home in Ghana.
The experience accrued here is forever. Friendly people, fun city, great sites and scenes, and I have made some incredible friends. Thank you WCAIR!
