For the first time since the founding of the Wellcome Centre, we have taken part in Dundee’s Doors Open Day. On Sunday, 25 September, we opened up our WeeCAIR Medicinal Garden to the public. We also supported the team in LifeSpace to show off a brand new exhibition.
Doors Open Day gave us an opportunity to reach out and work with even more partners across the city, with the launch of our Wee Green Wander trail. This included other science-themed gardens across Dundee. Some of them we have directly contributed to, such as the ones at Dundee Museum of Transport and Dundee Science Centre. Others are long-standing partners who helped us, such as the University’s Botanic Garden. They also include places we’re keen to work with more, like HMS Unicorn and the Ninewells Garden.
It also gave us a chance to shout about ourselves on social media. We had a particularly great response from the Grow Dundee Facebook group, which is an excellent community of folks from across Dundee. We also took to Twitter and Instagram. If you’re not yet following us on either, there’s lots of great content there.
We’d like to take a moment to thank all of our partners who helped bring the Wee Green Wander together. We’re also grateful to everyone who helped promote us across the city – our colleagues in the University Museum, and councillor Lynn Short were particularly helpful. And, of course, we’re thankful to everyone who came by and chatted with us. We hope you enjoyed the garden, the art, and a nice cuppa with us. We’re looking forward to seeing you again soon!
